REMEMBER TO EAT WISELY

Do you remember old movie “Flips and Flops”? It’s like us - two sisters: K - Flips and me - Flops ;) But all joking aside, sometimes such comparison comes to my mind.

Why? Even though I was vegetarian for years, and vegan for a year, I’ve faced the problem of being overweight for many years. I was overweight then skinny, I was slim and then overweight again. How is it possible? The answer is easy - bad eating habits. Even though I was on vegetarian/vegan diet, the food I used to eat was mostly fried, unhealthy, full of sugar, cheese and semi-products. It’s all about common sense. Even healthy snacks eaten in large portions (my favorite nuts and peanut butter - the curse of my vegan diet ;P) can have a disastrous effect on our health. You can eat anything. But from my experience, it can be deceiving when you get no or little physical activity. So, don’t be surprised when sitting on a couch eating vegetarian/vegan food, one day you discover that you gained weight.

When after giving birth to my son, I was not able to get back to my weight of 50 kg I decided to make a change in my life. It was painful. I admit. I found a personal trainer, a real sadist. I started to go to the gym regularly and pour sweat when working out. In time, I’ve started to like score muscles and weight lifting.  What was most important in this change was to understand the mistakes in my eating habits. Everything starts in our heads. I started to read articles and books and changed the way I ate. I eliminated processed products, limited unnecessary calories, fats and carbs, introduced more protein into my diet. Of course all of the above became an issue again when I became vegan, but I will write about it in a separate post soon.
Now I believe physical activity is a value in itself. I’ve finally started to eat consciously.
So please remember to eat wisely and don’t forget to get your daily dose of endorphins :)
